TEAM DTA
Meet the professionals behind Dellavedova Tennis Academy. Our team combines over 50 years of coaching legacy with modern, international high-performance expertise.

Peter Dellavedova
Academy Founder & Master Coach
The Profile
At the core of the Dellavedova Tennis Academy is a 50-year legacy built on a single, unwavering philosophy: success in tennis—and in life—is forged through respect and relentless effort, never just inherent talent or wealth. Peter’s own journey is the ultimate testament to this. Reluctant to even step on a court, his parents bought him a single tennis lesson with local country coach Terry Smith for his 14th birthday. He fell instantly in love with the grueling discipline of the sport. Just five short years later, at the age of 19, Peter walked onto the world’s most famous lawns to compete at Wimbledon.
The Experience
Peter’s playing resume is etched into the elite history of the sport. A two-time Australian Senior Champion who represented his country at both the junior and senior levels, Peter competed in three Australian Opens and the 1980 Wimbledon Championships. Throughout his professional career, he battled against undisputed legends of the game, including John McEnroe, Pat Cash, and Roscoe Tanner, while securing a monumental career victory over former World No. 4, Guy Forget. Behind the scenes, Peter’s tactical mind was shaped by the absolute titans of Australian tennis, having been directly mentored by Rod Laver, Ken Rosewall, John Newcombe, Tony Roche, and Mal Anderson.
The DTA Edge (The Legacy Builder)
As a formally certified Tennis Australia Level 2 coach, Peter’s true superpower over the last half-century has been his ability to architect champions and industry leaders. He isn’t just a coach of players; he is a coach of coaches. Peter developed Steve Blundell (Founder of MTC and TA Coaching Course Deliverer), Kane Dewhurst (Co-founder of Vida Tennis), Michael Tebbitt, and his own youngest son, current ATP touring professional Matt Dellavedova. Having seamlessly handed the directorial reins to his son Andrew, Peter remains the spiritual and tactical Godfather of WPTC, ensuring that every kid who puts on a DTA uniform understands the history, respect, and grit required to represent the academy.

Andy Dellavedova
Academy Director & Head Coach
The Profile
Andrew is the architect and driving force behind the modern Dellavedova Tennis Academy. With over a decade of coaching experience at Wonga Park Tennis Club, he successfully took the reins of the business from his father, Peter, executing a seamless transition that honored a 50-year legacy while aggressively modernizing the academy.
The Vision
Driven by a relentless ambition to see tennis thrive, Andrew’s ultimate vision is to scale DTA into a nationwide powerhouse, cementing the Dellavedova name as an iconic standard in Australian tennis coaching, business, and athletic performance.
The Credentials
Currently finalizing his formal Tennis Australia Level 2 Club Professional certification, Andrew is already laying the groundwork to pursue the elite Level 3 High-Performance status. Refusing to coach purely from the sidelines, Andrew is actively elevating his own playing caliber.
The DTA Edge
On the court, Andrew’s technical obsession lies in the mechanics of raw, explosive, and effortless power. He meticulously builds weapons that hurt opposing players in matches. Whether he is mapping out the official DTA pathway or refining a high-performance junior’s groundstrokes, Andrew guarantees a premium, world-class coaching standard.
